            The Cantafabule Show

Tonight we hear from Transylvania. We go back in time to 1975 with the band Phoenix and their third album. During the Ceausescu era, a young rock band playing Beatles covers in Romania was censored severely by the government. As a result, they went searching into the oldest literature they could source that dealt with folk-lore and myths from their part of the world. Using this inspiration, they created a musical work that introduces us to a menagerie of mythical beasts, while at the same time honing their skills and pushing progressive rock music way farther down the road to pave the way for many who came after. A testament to the human ability to thrive under duress. Hei pisica, pace pe tine.
